Place of the SRP Project

You will be working remotely or at the Nedap campus in Groenlo. Of course you do this in consultation with your team and what the possibilities are depends a bit on your work, but the choice is yours.

You will be supervised by a member of the eHealth Living & Learning Lab, Department of Medical Informatics, AMC.

Introduction

With the Ons suite, Nedap Healthcare has a digital multi-purpose solution (electronic client records; ECR) for the support of healthcare professionals in care for the elderly, care for the disabled, and care for mental health. With the Ons suite they can view client files, arrange their planning, take care of invoicing, and so on.

There are many instruments to determine the quality of a digital service, such as the Net Promoter Score (NPS) or the System Usability Scale (SUS). However, these are often aimed at consumers who perform tasks that are not linked to work (such as online shopping) and fail to provide insight into the context in which the system is used.

Description of the SRP Project/Problem

The client wants to explore how the Ons suite (as a whole and specific new features) scores in terms of user experience. To measure user experience it is required to describe an appropriate research design, based on a thorough literature review. The main objective is to execute this specifically tailored user experience research study design with end users and research its applicability to other ECRs.

Tasks and responsibilities:

- Identify client needs with regard to research outcomes and applicable output for future UX research studies for the Ons suite.

- Make an inventory of instruments to determine the user experience of similar systems, based on academic literature.

- Set up a study design to determine the aforementioned outcomes and user experience of (specific features of) an ECR.

- Perform this research

Research questions

The research questions will have to be adjusted and determined later, in close cooperation between the clients, student, and supervisor. Overall, the research questions should incorporate the following topics:

- What are state of the art contextual user experience measurements for ECRs?

- What is the user experience of end users using the Nedap Ons suite healthcare?

- What is the applicability and validity of these measurements for similar systems?

The client guarantees the supply of quantitative data, if quantitative data analysis is required.

For this assignment we are looking for someone with knowledge of UX and experience in doing end-user research (such as usability tests) as part of your studies. Following the elective Sustainable Human-centered eHealth solutions is strongly advised. As you will conduct user testing it is a prerequisite that you can understand and speak Dutch comfortably. You are also proficient with statistical methodologies and statistical analysis software (such as SPSS or R). Thanks to your strong verbal and written communication skills, you are able to communicate effectively with different target groups. Experience with the medical sector is not a requirement, but an interest in it is.

Expected results

This proposed study aims to evaluate the Nedap Ons Suite As a result, we expect a client report with recommendations on user experience. All findings from the literature review and evaluation analyses, supplemented by the recommendations from the advisory report, are described in the student's thesis.

Your team

Because your research spans the entire Ons suite, you'll be collaborating with many different people. You will work most closely with our UX specialists and the Product analytics team.
